The Country SPAAD Coordinator will lead and manage sponsorship projects at Program Implementation and Impact Area (PIIA). The person will also provide regular support to PIIA Sponsorship PO focal points, Sponsorship Assistants and assist the PIIA Manager in coordinating and monitoring sponsorship activities for the country.

The position is based in Bafata.

The position reports to the PIIA Manager

Key Responsibilities

Include but not limited to the following:

Sponsorship Commitments Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Plan GNB teams at PIIA  level understand the 10 sponsorship commitments and work with them in their day to day sponsorship and program work.
  • Work closely with PIIAM and other program staff to ensure that Sponsored children are targeted with projects and programs.
  • Ensure that sponsored child benefits are tracked and lists are shared with respective team members and formally reported
  • Ensure that Sponsored child home visits are monitored and records are shared with team members and included in the reports.
  • Align sponsorship and programs by sharing programmatic issues arising from sponsorship communications, reports and home visits with the PIIAM
  • Coordinates and collates activities for sponsorship operations in collaboration with PIIA Sponsorship teams for timely implementation at PIIA and CO level
  • Prepares, monitor and manages the sponsorship projects and reports any issues to the PIIAM  and Sponsorship Administrator
  • Ensures Sponsorship POs forecast activities and budget  are submitted on time and are in line with project phasing.
  • Support PIIAs in the training of Volunteers/Partners/Children/Community and Staff on new sponsorship policies and procedures.
  • Prepare the weekly and monthly reports for PIIAs for the attention of the PIIAM and Sponsorship Administrator.
  • Leads the preparations of operational plans, budget and reports for the sponsorship project outlines
  • Prepares quarterly report (including photo stories) on sponsorship activities in the PIIAs for the attention of the PIIAM and SA.
  • Identifies and reports sponsorship operational issues timely and to the Sponsorship Manager
  • Attends and participates in all sponsorship meetings
  • Fulfills Plan International’s Safeguarding Policy by making sure all sponsorship activities, processes and documents at PIIA level are in line with the policy
  • Performs any other duties to be assigned from time to time to support the achievement of organizational objectives

Empowerment and sustainability:

  • Ensure that Sponsorship committees, children, their families and community members are properly trained to take care of 100% of sponsorship activities.
  • Basing on Monitoring and evaluation reports on the performance of sponsorship committees, conduct fresh training in areas identified with gaps.

Management/Supervision/Teamwork:

  • Send training program for staff to the Program Unit Manager, conduct the training, or outsource trainers and report back after delivery of the training.
  • Being a key Program Area Team member, the Sponsorship Coordinator participates effectively and efficiently in planning and decision making.
  • Mentor, supervise and coach staff reporting to the Sponsorship Coordinator.
  • Use performance management system to evaluate sponsorship assistants
  • Instill values such as teamwork, empowerment and customer care, in staff.
  • Actively promote the image of Plan and maintain appropriate official relationship with government, NGOs and other stakeholders

Qualification Required & Experience

Degree in International Development  or Social Sciences  or equivalent in a related field.

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar function.

Knowledge on development issues affecting children.

Good knowledge of Microsoft applications package (Word, Excel, internet software & PowerPoint)

Planning and organizing skills.

Training delivery and facilitation skills.

Team work and management skills.
