POSITION INFORMATION

Position title : International Consultant(Peace Building Fund)
Duty station : Bissau, Guinea-Bissau

Appointment duration : 3 months with possibility of extension
Reports to : Chief of Mission

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the IOM Chief of Mission (CoM) in Bissau the successful candidate will act as anInternational Consultantin Bissau. S/he will work with Women and Child Institute (IMC)on the following tasks:

1. Support the development and implementation of the National Action Plan to prevent and protect victims of trafficking in persons;

2. Support IMC coordinatingtheexisting strategic and operational coordination mechanisms amongdifferent national actors and CSOs intervening in the protection and prevention of human trafficking;

3. Support inter-agency exchange of information and operational coordination in the framework of the PBF project;

4. Support through capacity building trainingsto prevent human trafficking;

5. Strengthen community and national awareness on the risk of human traffickingand transnational organized crime through awareness raising campaigns engaging women, youth and volunteers’ networks and associations in all the country;

6. Support all interventions in the domain of border management and prevention of human trafficking and smuggling;

7. Undertake duty travels, in line with prevailing security restrictions, relating to project assessments, liaison with counterparts, monitoring and project implementation, as required;

8. Support the creation of an early warning system based on existing vigilance committees and CSOs networks in the region for early detection and prevention of possible cases human trafficking;

9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Law, Human Rights, International Affairs or Migration Studies with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience, or

• University degree in the above fields of study with 5 years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE

• 3-5years’ experiencein project development and programme management;

• Proven knowledge of the issues in the relevant area;

• Proven ability to draft, edit and produce written proposals and results-focused reports;

• Proven experience working with Government, Civil Society, International Organizations and Donors;

• Good knowledge of project formulation, administration and evaluation techniques and practices;

• Experience in community engagement activities;

• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);

• Demonstrated record of supervising staff and coordinating administrative activities;

• Working experience in the field is an asset.

LANGUAGES

Required: Fluency in Portuguese and English.

Advantageous : Professional working proficiency in French
